How Much Does Bathroom Tiling Cost in Essendon?
What actually drives the price of a bathroom re-tile in Essendon's older homes, and why the quote should wait until the room's been seen.

Why there's no single number
Every bathroom we look at in Essendon comes with its own set of variables, and that's before a single tile is picked. A straight re-tile over a sound base is a different job to a full strip-out where the floor needs levelling or the shower base needs rebuilding. A lot of Essendon's bungalows and period homes have bathrooms that were renovated decades ago, and what's under the old tiles doesn't always match what's on top.
What changes the price
A few things we actually look at when working out a quote:
Condition of what's underneath. If the floor's got a dip, or the old shower base has been leaking into the subfloor, that gets sorted before tiling starts. We stop and show you if we find water damage under the old tiles before doing anything extra.
Size and layout of the room. A small ensuite with simple walls costs less in time than a larger family bathroom with niches, a bench or a step-down shower.
Tile size and pattern. Large-format porcelain lays faster across a flat floor than small mosaic or a herringbone feature layout, which takes more time to set out properly.
Who's supplying the tiles. You can supply your own tiles or we can order them through us at cost. The quote states which, so there's no guessing on that line item.
Why we quote after seeing the room
We give a written, itemised quote once we've seen the room and the tiles you've picked. That's not us being precious about it. A bathroom that looks straightforward on a phone call can turn out to be out of square, or have a shower base that's been quietly leaking for years. Setting the layout out on the floor before we start, and talking through it with you, means the quote reflects the actual job rather than a guess.
Getting a figure for your bathroom
If you're renovating in Essendon or nearby in Moonee Ponds, Ascot Vale, Strathmore or Aberfeldie, send through some photos of the room and whatever tile you've got your eye on. Callum and Joel will work out what's involved and put together an itemised quote from there, so you know exactly what you're paying for before any tile goes down.
